Emotional and behavioral counseling is available and included in each case plan, along with access to regular medical and dental care. Children can participate in social and recreational activities, receive life skills training, and benefit from individualized care plans tailored to their unique needs. Efforts are also made towards family reunification when appropriate, and thorough case management ensures coordinated support and services for each child.

Our teen moms also recieve comprehensive parenting education coupled with life skills training to empower our young women to confidently care for their children and themselves. Emotional and behavioral counseling is not only made available to address the unique challenges faced by teen moms but is included in every individual support plan and is complemented by regular medical and pediatric care to ensure the health of both mother and baby. The home also offers social and recreational activities designed to build a sense of community and support. Individualized care plans and thorough case management provide personalized, coordinated services tailored to the specific needs of each family, promoting their overall well-being and future success.

Let’s Dig Deeper!

Traditional Residential

Residential services here at the Church of God Children's Home encompass a range of support and care aimed at meeting the physical, emotional, and developmental needs of our children, who come from less than suitable homes where they may have experienced significant trauma in the forms of abuse or neglect and cannot live with their families. Our services include:

Safe and Stable Living Environment: Providing a secure and nurturing home-like setting where our children can feel safe and comfortable.

Basic Needs: Ensuring access to nutritious meals, clothing, and personal hygiene supplies.

Education Support: Facilitating access to education, including school enrollment, homework assistance, and tutoring services.

Emotional and Behavioral Support: Offering trauma informed counseling and therapy to address emotional, psychological, and behavioral issues. This can include individual and group therapy sessions.

Medical and Health Services: Coordinating regular health check-ups, dental care, and any necessary medical treatments.

Social and Recreational Activities: Providing opportunities for social interaction, recreational activities, and hobbies to promote healthy social development and well-being.

Life Skills Training: Teaching essential life skills such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and time management to prepare children for independent living.

Family Reunification Services: When possible and appropriate, working towards reuniting children with their families through family counseling, supervised visits, and other supportive measures.

Individualized Care Plans: Developing and regularly updating personalized care plans to address each child's unique needs and goals.

Case Management: Coordinating and managing the various services and supports a child receives, often involving collaboration with social workers, educators, healthcare providers, and other professionals.

These services are designed to create a stable and supportive environment that fosters the overall development and well-being of children in care.

Teen Mom and Baby

Safe and Stable Living Environment: We start by providing safe and stable housing where both the mother and her baby can live. The home offers a supportive, structured environment designed to foster a sense of community and security, giving young mothers a refuge where they can focus on caring for their babies and themselves.

Parenting Education: We include in this program classes and hands-on training on child development, infant care, and parenting techniques. Teen moms learn how to bond with their babies, understand their needs, and develop routines, helping them build confidence as caregivers.

Counseling and Emotional Support: These services are provided to help young mothers process the challenges they face, including trauma, anxiety, or depression. Through individual and group counseling, along with spiritual guidance, they receive emotional support and mentorship to navigate the complex emotions of motherhood and being in DSS custody.

Life Skills and Personal Development: Mothers are guided in practical areas like budgeting, cooking, and managing time, while also being supported in continuing their education or career training. Self-esteem building activities help them grow personally and feel empowered.

Health and Medical Services: We work closely with top of the line health care providers to give quality health care and medical service for both the teen moms and their babies. This includes prenatal and postnatal care for the mothers and regular pediatric checkups for the babies. The program also helps families access necessary healthcare services, such as WIC or Medicaid.

Childcare and Early Childhood Development: To help mothers with their daily responsibilities, the program offers childcare and early childhood development services. On-site childcare or referrals to local providers give mothers the opportunity to continue their education or work, while their babies participate in activities designed to support their development.

Case management: Navigating the legal and DSS case management process is another area where the program offers support. Staff assist young mothers in attending court hearings, understanding their case plans, and working toward reunification or permanency planning. This helps the mothers remain compliant with DSS requirements.

Spiritual Support: The program integrates spiritual support, offering opportunities for teen moms to engage in Christian teachings and activities, such as church services, Bible studies, and mentorship from faith-based staff. This spiritual guidance helps mothers grow emotionally and spiritually.

Building Independence: Finally, the program prepares young mothers for independence, helping them secure housing, employment, and plan for long-term financial stability. Even after they leave, the program may offer aftercare and continued mentorship, ensuring they have the support needed to transition successfully into independent living.
