From the Director
On August 24, 2026, Sonja and I will begin a new ministry adventure as we become the Executive Directors of the North Carolina Church of God Children’s Home. We accept this appointment with great excitement, but also with a profound sense of responsibility. Caring for our children is a sacred biblical trust, and we intend to pour ourselves into the care of each child, providing holistic support for their physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual well-being. Their time at the Home may be short, but our desire is that it will be a positive, life-changing experience for every child.
For Sonja and me, this is truly a homecoming. We were both raised in North Carolina, have “tar on our heels,” and love calling North Carolina home. We served in Western North Carolina in pastoral ministry for 25 years, during which time we were elected to serve on various boards and the State Council. We then served for eight years in the Western North Carolina State Office as Directors of Youth & Discipleship, USA Missions, and Girls Ministries Coordinator. Through these years of ministry, we have had the privilege of building relationships with so many of you.
For the past eight years, we have served the Lord and the Church of God as Administrative Bishop and Women’s Ministries Coordinator in the Northern New England Region and the state of Illinois. Now, we look forward to building new relationships across North Carolina as we travel to represent the Children’s Home and build new bridges between the Home and local churches. We are excited to share the message that “Together, we can build more lives.”

Finally, we want to express our deep gratitude to Bishops Kip Box and Melvin Shuler, as well as the NC Home for Children’s Board of Directors, for their vote of confidence in us. Last, but certainly not least, we want to commend outgoing Executive Directors Bishop Ken and Jane Hudson for their years of loving and fruitful service to the Children’s Home. They have served the children of the Church of God with distinction and have faithfully prepared the ministry for a strong future. We are honored to step into this ministry and look forward to serving you, partnering with you, and caring for the children entrusted to us.

What Do We Do?
Our home provides a positive and safe living environment for kids who have spent their lives in less than suitable environments where they were left untended, abused, neglected, and at risk for falling into dangerous lifestyles. We work 24/7 to meet the physical, mental, social, and spiritual needs of hurting children. Our mission has always been to see them grow in maturity and their ability to make decisions that will lead them to be productive citizens.
